  7.         Along with your midday tea, Mrs. Hudson brings you an envelope
  8.         addressed to you.  You open it and discover that it is a letter
  9.         from Sir Garth Gregory, president of the Bank of London.  The
  10.         letter reads as follows:
  11.         To: Mr. Sherlock Holmes
  12.             221b Baker Street, London
  13.         Dear Mr. Holmes,
  14.         Although we have never met, I feel I must seek your help based on
  15.         your reputation.  This morning, after arriving at the bank, I
  16.         opened the safe to find a recent shipment of silver bullion had
  17.         dissapeared.  The safe shows no signs of breaking into.  When
  18.         an Inspector Lestrade from Scotland Yard arrived to investigate,
  19.         he came to the conclusion that I must be guilty and has placed me
  20.         under arrest.  I swear to you that I am completely innocent of this
  21.         entire affair.  You are my last hope Mr. Holmes.  Please help me.

  53.         Mark Johnson, the janitor for the Dartmouth Hotel, had been
  54.         assigned the task of rebuilding a section of the hotels wine
  55.         cellars.  While working on this he found out about the silver
  56.         shipment being stored in the vaults of the Bank of England.
  57.         Since he was already part way there, he finished digging into
  58.         the sewers that ran underneath both the bank and the hotel.
  59.         Next he purchased some chemicals that he knew would create a
  60.         very hot reaction.  Sealing the chemicals in wax, he placed them
  61.         in a light wooden box and had them stored in the bank vaults.
  62.         Slowly in the night, the chemicals disolved the wax and eventualy
  63.         met and formed a high temperature reaction.  The silver bullion
  64.         melted and went down the water drawin in the center of the vault.
  65.         Johnson, who had already tapped into that drain pipe, merely
  66.         collected the liquid silver and then skipped the country with it.

  71.         The art director shows you a message that he received just this
  72.         morning.  The message reads as follows:

  77.         Gregson lets you see a clue that Lestrade found when he went to
  78.         investigate at the bank.  It is a torn piece of cloth with the
  79.         following message on it:

  81.         TV Alices boss.

  84.         Mr. Davidsons secretary hands you an envelope saying 'Mr. Holmes,
  85.         this is for you.  Mr. Davidson had an appointement and could not
  86.         meet you but he left this for you'.
  87.         You open it up and it contains a letter that reads:
  88.         Thief Clue (Part 2 of 3)
  89.         In the Bible he was known as The Baptist.

  92.         On speaking to the Mr. Peterson, the Hotel Manager, you find he
  93.         can contribute little.  'Well Mr. Holmes', he says, 'I was up
  94.         quite late and did not see anyone at all around the bank.  If you
  95.         will excuse me sir, I have my own problems at the moment.  My wine
  96.         cellar is half finished, and my janitor quit this morning.'.

  99.         Examining the vaults, you find that they are indeed quite empty.
  100.         They consist of four metal walls and shiny metal ceiling and floor.
  101.         There is a small drain in the center of the vaults to allow
  102.         drainage when the vaults are cleaned.  The vault containing the
  103.         silver is completely empty except for some jade statues.
  104.         Upon talking to Mark LeFevre, the vice president, you find that
  105.         the only times the vault was opened yesterday was when Mrs. Mary
  106.         Johnstone had some jade statues stored and when Mr. Ted Thompson
  107.         had a box of precious coins sent over from the hotel.

  110.         Hillery tells you that Mary LeFevre, wife of the vice president
  111.         of the bank of England, spends a small fortune at her boutique
  112.         each month.

  115.         In the stores records, you find a bill for some highly reactive
  116.         chemicals that were sold to the Dartmout Hotel.
  117.         'Yes Mr. Holmes', says the owner, 'the Dartmouth is rebuilding
  118.         their wine cellar and needed the chemicals to burn through some
  119.         of the stone walls'.

  122.         The old park caretaker can help little except to tell you that he
  123.         was once a city engineer and that the bank, the exchange and the
  124.         hotel are all connected underground by sewers.

  128.         busy to talk to you.

  130.         One of the cabbies remembers taking Ted Thompson and a nice
  131.         looking lady from the West Landings Inn to the Dartmouth Hotel
  132.         last night at about 1:00am.  He could not help but overhear Mr.
  133.         Thompson bragging to the lady that he was just about to come into
  134.         a large sum of money.  The cabbie complains that if he was going to
  135.         be so bloody rich then how come he only got a two-bit tip.

  153.         pick it up and open it.  It reads:
